Balneario de Tortugas (Turtle bay) is the most attractive edge at Casma and the
nearest beach to the city of Huaráz. Its beaches, with calm waters pleasantly kept
at a moderate temperature, are an invitation during the whole year. Apart from
swimming, dipping and fishing, one can exercise also different types of water
sports. In the proximity of the beach Tortugas are an oyster and a shell breed.

From here visits to the most important archaeological centres of the pre-Inca
time can be organised. For example:

- Sechín, one of the most important ruins on the Peruvian coast
- Chan Chan, the largest adobe city in the world
- Sipán, funerary objects considered to rank among the finest examples of              pre-Columbian art
